On October 15-19, 2012, Argentina will be hosting the 5th World Congress for the Rights of Children and Adolescents to discuss the achievements of Argentina's Public Policy for Children and Adolescents in the past five years. The World Congress began in Venezuela in 2003 under the theme "The RIght of Chidlren and Adolescents: An autonomous necessity" where 1,000 participants from 23 countries took part in the first congress. Since then consecutive World Congresses have taken place in Peru, Spain and Puerto Rico.

The Congress will begin on October 15, 2012 with a formal opening ceremony followed by a Master Lecture. The opening of the V World Congress will also include artistic and cultural activities. On October 16, 17 and 18, there will be 12 Lectures, 12 Panel Sessions and 60 Discussion Forums that will be selected from the 65 listed herein. On Friday, October 19, the closing ceremony of the V Congress will take place and the “Manifesto of San Juan” (a recommendation for a more just world for Children and Adolescents) will be submitted to the international community for consideration.
