Children’s creativity and imagination produce a critical point of view that is frequently ignored and under developed. Children and young people participate in many art and culture initiatives that allow them to understand and enjoy the difficult world in which they live. They can express their own feelings and experiences through painting, drawing, acting, taking pictures, films, singing, dancing and playing sports, among many others activities. How much do we know about a child or young person’s need and/or desire? How do we obtain that information? The best way to do this is to listen and observe them, taking note as to what would empower them and give them a voice. In this section, we include experiences and approaches in which children take the lead; they manage projects, present their thoughts, happiness, discontent, and express their questions, comments and concerns in an analytical and progressive way.
