Because I am a Girl: Plan's Campaign to Fight Gender Inequality, Promote Girl's Rights and Lift Girls Out of Poverty

Because I am a Girl is Plan’s campaign to fight gender inequality, promote girls' rights and lift millions of girls  out of poverty: "Girls around the world are heavily affected by a wide range of issues that Plan works with including poverty, education, health, and the environment. Girls are more often than not discriminated against and denied many of their basic human rights."

The 2009 'Because I am a Girl' report focuses on the global economy and warns that failing to send girls to school is costing the world's poorest countries billions of pounds each year. The 2008 report examines the state of girls in conflict situations around the world and the 2007 report followed 135 girls born in 2006 to explore how their gender impacted on their lives.
