In 1989, the Convention on the Rights of the Child came into effect to provide children - in both rich and poor countries - the right to a childhood in which they can learn, play, be healthy, and develop.
However, 15 years after the adoption of the Convention; and after more than 15 years of market-led economic growth governments and the international community are still far from fulfilling children’s rights and creating a world fit for children.
