The Director of Equity for Children, Equidad para la Infancia and Equidade para la Infancia, Alberto Minujin, will receive the Bicentennial Medal from the City of Buenos Aires in a special ceremony on November 9, 2010 in Buenos Aires.
Professor Minujin was chosen as recipient of the Bicentennial honor as one of 200 individuals and institutions from Argentina who have distinguished themselves for lifelong work, distinction, honesty and societal contribution.
Professor Minujin teaches at the Graduate Program in International Affairs (GPIA) at The New School University in New York. He launched Equity for Children and its Spanish and Portuguese versions in 2007 to foster collaboration among academicians, students and practitioners from government and non-governmental organizations. His coursework at The New School in social policy, child poverty and social protection complements the website and its mission of promoting conversation that helps eradicate child poverty.
Bicentennial Medal Recipient Minujin is the author of numerous books and articles, including The Middle Class, Seduced and Abandoned; The New Poor; Poverty and Children: Policies to Break the Vicious Cycle; and Social Protection Initiatives for Children, Women and Families.
Recipients of the Argentinian Bicentennial Medal will be honored on November 9 at the Salon Dorado de la Cultura in the city of Buenos Aires.
