October 5th: Child Health Day in the US

US President Obama declared October 5, 2009 as Child Health Day. He stated, “Our Nation has an obligation to provide access to affordable, high-quality health care for all our children,” and asking Americans to rededicate themselves to “providing a bright, healthy future for our Nation's youth.” Originally proclaimed by President Calvin Coolidge in 1928, National Child Health Day is meant to spread awareness about ways to improve the health of our nation’s children.
