The Girl Effect

The girl effect is a project that advocates for investments in adolescent girls on order to break the cycles of poverty that entrap families, societies and communities around the world. It argues that young girls are in a unique position to create a better future, but that things can go one of two ways - by giving females the opportunities for better education and health, they gain the ability to improve the standard of living for themselves and their families. However, when females are kept illiterate, married at an early age or isolated, their freedoms are restricted and capabilities for themselves as well as their communities, it becomes harder to break out of the cycle of poverty and deprevation.
