In the summer of 2007, Sébastien Haizet and Megan Otis worked closely with São Martinho, a non governmental organization working to promote the rights of of street children.Through a series of interviews with lawyers, counselors, shelter care-takers and the children themselves, this video project is an attempt to contextualize the realities of the citys street children and Human Rights workers within a larger historical framework of prejudice and discrimination.Through their words, this project seeks to give a glimpse on the lives of these children whose existence is prominently dictated by perceptions of contempt, deeply ingrained in a conservative judiciary, sensational media, and the sociocultural fabric of the city itself.
